-[Shows]-

My taste in music is very varied. You'll see why.

I went to the Blackened Fest on May 22nd. I got to see Mayhem live and it was an amazing experience. There are some bands that just MUST be seen live at least once in your life, and Mayhem is one of those bands. Cephalic Carnage put on a great show as well of course, they kicked ass. We also met a really cool guy (his name is Jess) he came from Canada for the show.

Deicide and Vital Remains are playing on July 5th. I'd like to go to that show but I'm not sure yet if I will. I've seen Vital Remains before and they were good. We'll see if I go or not.

On July 11th I'm going to the VAMPS show (Irving Plaza). I'm SUPER excited about this show. I'm a huge fan of HYDE and this is a solo project that he is doing with K.A.Z. The music is kind of old school Rock n' Roll, very energetic, very sexy. It seems a lot of people either don't know about the show or don't know about the band itself to begin with. So I've been trying to spread the word. I made some banners [link] and artwork [link] For any JRock fans in New York or nearby this is a show not to be missed so yeah, I suggest you act now! You can also go to their myspace profile and check out their music [link]

I'm working on my husband's website. I finished the design and I'm on the development end now. It's going to be an e-commerce website and it's going to have lots of cool stuff so you have to check it out once it is up. I'll let everyone know. For now I have a "Coming soon" page up here [link] I don't like coming soon pages but he needed something up since he is giving people his business card.

So deedeedeeeedeee that's all folks!!

Moving on...

-[Moving forward, moving on]-

I believe in the Law of Attraction. We attract what we constantly think about; what we focus on. The more we think about it, the more emotion we put into those thoughts, the more chances it will happen, or come to be. So keep that in mind the next time you start thinking your usual whiny thoughts of "I hate my life, this sucks, I'm never going to do this or that etc..." Realize that is exactly why you are where you are.

I decided to become fluent in Japanese. Yes, I am going to read it, write it, speak it. And I mean in way that I can grab a magazine and read, or a manga book, watch a movie, have a casual conversation. None of that school crap that doesn't really help you in the real world. I had enough of that school crap back home in Puerto Rico. They teach English grammar in school but you never really learn how to have a conversation. I don't mean that the grammar is useless, but the way schools teach is just...kinda useless. What really helped me learn English was the things I enjoyed. Watching TV in English, movies, cartoons. Listening to music that I liked in English. Looking at magazines in English, reading books, comic books, etc. So I'm doing the same thing with Japanese. It's not easy at first but it's fun. :)

I want to take more photos this year. Last year was kinda hectic and I didn't use my camera that much. I want to change that. What I'd like to do is go on small city-safaris with some friends; that way we can all come up with great ideas of places we can go shoot. So Gotham dwellers, drop me a line if you are interested!

Updates, Upgrades, Good Stuff

Sun May 25, 2008, 7:24 PM
Well I just wanted to say hi to all the people who take the time to visit my gallery here, and thank you to those who leave comments, favorites, etc. I really appreciate it!

:tombstone:
I've been watching the HBO series (rented it) Six Feet Under and I must say, that is a REALLY good show. The way the characters develop and evolve, and how deep the wounds are in everyone's live, wow...it really takes you in. I've also learned a lot from watching the show, regarding the life of a Funeral Home Director. That is one tough job. You have to be a little bit of a therapist, and you have to be so strong and a little detached without being too cold. If you haven't seen it, I recommend you watch it. It also makes you think a lot about death and how it'll be when your turn comes. Everyone handles it differently.

:pc:
Ok so enough of that. On to other good stuff. I made some minor updates to my online portfolio (www.linettemattei.com). I've added samples of my print work and a new micro-site I recently did for Under Armour and Crunch. So go take a look, what are you waiting for? [link].

:camera:
I got myself a Nikon D70s, so I have a lot to learn. It is my first dSLR camera, so it's going to take a while for me to get the hang of it. I bought it off a friend of mine who got it as a birthday present but doesn't use it because she's a Canon girl. So I'm pretty excited about my new Nikon. I have ideas for photography projects that will happen when I get better at using the Nikon. So I'm excited about it! :bounce:

...More updates coming up soon so stick around.

Photomanipulation

Mon Apr 7, 2008, 11:26 AM
Hello everyone,

Photomanipulation is when you take two or more photos and combine/merge them to create a different image with them.

I am currently working as a Web Designer for a small firm in NYC. This is my dream job. It started about 6 years ago when I first heard about Adobe Photoshop. People were showing me all these amazing images that others had created using this software. My brother showed me a few tutorials and I started playing with them. I loved creating new, different things from the originals. And from there on I couldn't get enough of photoshop and tutorials and doing new things. Later on I decided to pursue a career in the Interactive Design field. I really love my job. It can be a pain at times but we all know that happens in any job. I don't mind.

So I just found out that it is apparently Photomanipulation Week here at :devart: and even though I don't really support or promote anything in this website anymore because I don't really care, I decided to promote this because it makes me think of why I got into the career I am in now. B-)

So, check it out if you are into photomanipulation. There is a contest too. It sounds like a nice challenge, not for the prizes (which are not great lol) but just for the challenge. :below:

So that's it for now. Take care everyone!

Think for yourself

2008 is here...

Tue Jan 8, 2008, 5:06 PM
:work:

Another year went by...

Did you do something new? Did you try something? Did you learn anything? Did you meet someone interesting? Did you read any books?

Of course you also stumbled, fell, bled, cried, failed...it's all priceless. It's all important, believe me. There is no such thing as a "bad" experience, even if it hurts. In the end, we always get something out of it.

However, the truth is, we are what we think we are. We are who we think we are. We convince ourselves and that is what makes us or breaks us. It's all us, it's all YOU. So do it already!

Or not...it's your choice. It always is.
